As Lilith Rutledge drives off after dropping the ransom for her sister Janie's kidnapping, Batman discovers a body in the water by the pier. The fingers of one hand have been severed, leading Batman to believe that this may be the body of Janie Rutledge. But as Bruce returns to Wayne Manor, he learns that nothing about this kidnapping is what it appears.
