This issue marks the beginning of the "Progeny" arc and is set during DC's "One Year Later" event. The story centers on the Crime Doctor, who seeks to defect from the villainous Society and reaches out to Oracle for assistance. In response, the Society dispatches Clayface, Killer Croc, and the Ventriloquist to eliminate him. Oracle assigns Huntress to protect the Crime Doctor, and with the unexpected aid of Lady Shiva—now operating under the alias "Jade Canary"—they manage to rescue him. However, the situation becomes more complex when the Crime Doctor reveals that his daughter has also been targeted by the Society.
