The narrative centers on Jackie Estacado, bearer of the Darkness, as he faces off against the Angelus, his eternal adversary. During the battle, Appolonia Franchetti, Jackie's aunt, intervenes by stabbing the Angelus with the Spear of Destiny, effectively separating the Angelus from her daughter, Lauren Franchetti.
