And when Spider-Man shows up to try and stop him, the crowd turns against him, declaring that he's in the pocket of 'big business'.

Spidey doesn't know that Electro's powers are killing him. He needs to find some way to raise money to persuade the Mad Thinker to help save him which prompts him to try to cut a deal with Dexter Bennet.
