Red Fowler nearly dies during a stunt. It's because his mind is on the money he owes Loan Shark - money he can't repay. Loan Shark, whose left arm is a sword, gives him just twenty-four hours. He decides to go for a ride, and runs afoul of Ghost Rider, whose savage nature continues to wax. Returning to the carnival he sees Ghost Rider transform in to Blaze, but does not believe his eyes. Exhausted by his ordeal, he sleeps nearly until Loan Shark returns, and decides to flee - but Loan Shark has anticipated this. Seizing Red, the criminal takes him to a boat where he'll show his men how to disembowel a welcher. But Johnny has followed him there, and battles the Shark's henchmen nearly to a standstill... before the Rider emerges on his own. Ghost Rider quickly overpowers the men and destroys the boat. And this time, Red can't disbelieve his eyes. But Red realizes he misjudged Johnny, and vows to be a friend to the cursed man...
