Kiden Nixon, a troubled teenager with the power to freeze time, continues to navigate the harsh realities of street life in New York City alongside her small, makeshift family. In this issue, the mysterious mute girl they've rescued—later revealed to be X-23 (Laura Kinney)—is further integrated into the group. Tensions remain high as trust is still tentative among the group members, especially between Kiden and former schoolteacher Cameron Palmer, who is struggling to reconcile the bizarre events she's been swept into.

Meanwhile, the story introduces Tatiana Caban, a teenage girl with a job at a veterinary clinic, who is hiding her own emerging mutant ability. Tatiana's mutation—transforming into a canine-like creature—manifests violently, adding a new layer of danger and vulnerability.
