Vandal Savage and his clone have captured Green Lantern, and is planning on killing him and having the clone assume his identity to infiltrate and destroy the JSA. Scott manages to recharge his ring, but still almost loses to Savage before he can call in a strike by the Blackhawks as the White King of Checkmate. GL survives the explosions but is unable to find Savage or his clone in the rubble. Savage seems to have found a way to survive, at least for a while.
