A troop of Pathfinders venture into the Montana woods to earn their wilderness survival badges when they are attack by what is described as a "shaggy man." When Mulder and Scully investigate, they discover several of the troop's mutilated bodies partially eaten. Mulder begins to hypothesize that the killer is actually a Windigo, an ancient Native American legend about cannibalism.
