In “War of the Super Powers,” Lex Luthor reveals that his scientist Sydney Happersen has created Bizarro as an attempt to cure his illness. Bizarro is spotted in Midway City and causes chaos—welding a drawbridge shut with heat vision, confusing authorities and civilians alike. Superman intervenes, battles Bizarro through the city, and eventually wards him off into space to prevent further destruction.
