This issue continues Peter David’s acclaimed Gray Hulk saga. After Banner’s psyche has been fractured and the Gray Hulk persona begins to assert more control, tensions rise between Bruce and those closest to him. When Hulk crosses paths with X-Factor, chaos follows. The team of mutant heroes (including Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman, and Angel) confront the Hulk, leading to a clash that mixes brawn, power, and mutant abilities.

X-Factor is starting to regret turning the Hulk over to S.H.I.E.L.D. By the time they realize that S.H.I.E.L.D. is now corrupt and planning to kill the Hulk, it may be too late to stop them.

Beneath the action, this issue digs into Bruce Banner’s inner struggle, showing how his fractured personality influences his behavior and his increasingly unstable hold on the Hulk persona. This story sets the stage for deeper psychological arcs in later issues and solidifies Peter David’s stamp on the character.
