In “Slipping Into Darkness,” Hobie Brown (the Prowler) continues his battle with a rival known as Nightcreeper, who has stolen Hobie’s proprietary technology from the company Hobie works for. Although Nightcreeper denies murdering the firm’s chairman, he witnessed someone else commit the deed. Hobie urges Nightcreeper to turn himself in, but the antagonist refuses. Meanwhile, Hobie uncovers a hostile takeover bid against his company. Their confrontation escalates, and during a chase through the skies, Hobie’s cape malfunctions, causing him to fall unexpectedly—and the issue ends on that tense cliffhanger.
