The main story “Iron Dreams & Bloody Murder” follows Blackhawk Squadron (primarily Janos Prohaska and Natalie Reed) in multiple simultaneous theatres during WWII, revolving around a plot with an atomic bomb, betrayal, and political intrigue:
The White Lions (enemy agents) infiltrate a Nazi stronghold to seize an atomic weapon.
Janos Prohaska and Natalie Reed are drawn into diplomatic balls, black-tie functions, accusations of political betrayal, and personal confrontation.
In New York, Senator Shadrack Hightower is opposed by revelations and machinations; Death Mayhew acts as an antagonist, with a plan involving broadcasting signals to detonate a bomb over New York via a plane (“New York Bomber”).
Reba MacMahon becomes involved as a victim of Mayhew’s instability; Janos and Natalie get tipped off in time.
Janos confronts and shoots Death Mayhew, locates the proper frequency to trigger the atomic bomb, and detonates it while still aboard the plane, thus preventing catastrophe in New York.
After the crisis, fallout: political revelations, Hightower’s demise, public vindication for Janos (including praise from President Roosevelt). Natalie Reed is more fully established as part of the Blackhawk team
