This one-shot spins out of Double Impact — High Impact’s mercenary/antihero title. Writer Mario Cimadevilla and artist Sandu Florea send the team into China on a black-ops mission that rapidly devolves into chaos. The story opens with the squad tasked to intercept an arms-smuggling ring tied to triads and a covert government faction. Their entry into Shanghai leads to brutal street-level skirmishes and rooftop gunfights. During the mission, the team clashes with a Chinese assassin codenamed Red Lotus, who has her own agenda and tests the limits of Double Impact’s cohesion. Themes of betrayal and loyalty run through the issue as one of the team members contemplates selling out for survival. The book ends with a cliffhanger escape aboard a cargo ship, setting up fallout in the main Double Impact series.
