The Defenders find themselves targeted by the racist organization The Sons of the Serpent.
Doctor Strange, Valkyrie, Yellowjacket, and Nighthawk are captured and held underwater in a deadly trap.

Bruce Banner rushes to the Sanctum Sanctorum, where Clea helps him summon reinforcements:

Meanwhile, the captured Defenders discover that Valkyrie is missing, and the Sons of the Serpent announce she will be publicly sacrificed.

Hulk transforms and leads a desperate rescue.
During the assault, the Hulk is blinded, and Daredevil — also literally blind — is overwhelmed by the Serpent forces.

The issue ends in peril, setting up the continuation of the arc.
