Scientists at S.T.A.R. Labs tell Aquaman he has been doing too much for too long and needs rest. They devise a water-filled sleep chamber for him. A sea creature, perhaps related to a dinosaur, rises from the sea bed in New York Harbor where it swamps a tour boat, but then apparently tries to help the foundering passengers. The scientists realize they need Aquaman, so they awaken him and send him to warn it off. He has a police chopper lead the monster out to sea, but it is very hungry, and Aquaman is groggy - he nearly becomes its meal! Then there is a telepathic shout, "Open!" A woman, Dera, tells Aquaman this creature - Peli - is her friend and was only defending itself from the boat. Just as he wraps up this situation he receives warnings of trouble in Poseidonis: violent looters!
