The Skrull agenda that has been hinted at for months is put into top gear. A lone Skrull craft lands in the Savage Land, and both teams of Avengers head in to investigate, despite their lack of trust for each other. The find the installation they were captured in back from New Avengers #5, in much worse repair than it used to be. They also find the Skrull craft, but before they can tear it open, a wave of attacks from Skrull agents strike down most human resistance, often accompanied by the mantra "He Loves You." Iron Man is felled by a virus, the orbiting S.W.O.R.D. installation is destroyed, the Baxter Building is sucked into the Negative Zone, Reed Richards is seriously wounded, and a spacecraft full of what appear to be heroes in old school costumes cracks open.
