In the aftermath of his battle with Dr. Spectrum, Eddie March is hospitalized in critical condition. The only chance Tony Stark and Don Blake see to saving him is the enervator that accidentally turned Happy Hogan into the Freak. They attempt its use, with additional defenses in place, but March still becomes the Freak. With careful herding, Iron Man is able to get him back inside the hospital and subdued enough to change back into March and finish the operation. (Thor was unable to assist because his walking stick was trapped under fallen equipment.)
